As the boundary between bathing and sleeping spaces blurs, designers are now treating the bath a piece of furniture and creating styles that will work in a variety of settings.
For many, a freestanding bath offers the ultimate in indulgent bathing. Influenced by luxury hotels suites and spa resorts, the idea of installing a freestanding bath into the softer environment of the bedroom is increasing in popularity.
Jaime Hayon’s collection for ArtQuitect includes bathroom furniture, basins and a generously proportioned bath. Featuring stylised shapes and refined materials it brings elegance to the bathroom.
The Blue Moon tub from Duravit measures 140x140cm and is based on a modular system – choose from acrylic or wood finish side panels and either a teak or white acrylic surface inset. Inspired by Arne Jacobsen’s iconic Egg chair, the Arne bath from Rapsel features a high backrest – bringing focus to the design, while providing comfort for the user.
The majority of freestanding baths will require floor-mounted bath taps – these are fixed to the floor rather than to the bath. Rising elegantly from the floor, the GROHE Ondus® bath/shower mixer features a digital control allowing you to pre-programme your preferred water flow and temperature. GROHE Ondus® is available in a choice of three finishes – Moon White, Velvet Black and
GROHE StarLight® chrome.
